Controversial Bitcoin figure Craig Wright has openly acknowledged once again that he is Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonym used by a person or group to invent Bitcoin in 2008.
In a response sent to the U.S. Commodity and Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) on February 15, Craig Wright wrote,
“My name is Dr. Craig Wright and under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto, I completed a project I started in 1997 that was filed with the Australian Government.”
Craig Wright claims that the amount of misunderstanding and fallacious information distributed about the nature of blockchain systems like Bitcoin and Ethereum is the reason why he has decided to become more public.
He also claimed that the system he created was partly to end fraud as much as that can be done with technology.
As far as involvement with the CFTC is concerned, Craig Wright would have to take an oath to prove the legitimacy of his claims that he is the Satoshi Nakamoto who invented Bitcoin a decade ago.
Is Craig Wright Not the Real Satoshi Nakamoto?
Rather interesting is the fact that members of the crypto community who strongly hold that Craig Wright is not Satoshi Nakamoto have continued to provide proof.
According to WikiLeaks, samples of the original whitepaper, which Craig Wright claimed to have sent to the Australian government at the start of Bitcoin project is plagiarized and misrepresented in what was originally released to the public as Bitcoin whitepaper.
Also in line with earlier claims that he could crash the price of Bitcoin to $1000 during the BCH hardfork in November, many have called on Craig Wright to move a large volume of Bitcoins from the first known Bitcoin wallet belonging to Satoshi Nakamoto.
Doing so would, in their opinion, provide substantial evidence for his claim rather than an oath taken with the CFTC.
Time will tell which path Craig Wright will take to back his Satoshi Nakamoto claims.
