Cryptocurrency exchange OKX (formerly known as OKEx) has become the official crypto exchange partner of English Premier League (EPL) giant Manchester City following a newly signed multi-year partnership deal.

OKX Partners Man City

Although the financial terms were not disclosed, a Forbes article noted that the deal is in the multi-million dollar range annually.

According to the announcement, the partnership will cover City’s men and women teams, including its eSports ventures. OKX’s logo will also feature inside the club’s venues, including the 55,000 seat Etihad Stadium and the 70,000 capacity Academy Stadium.

The crypto exchange will collaborate with Manchester City on the club’s future projects and other activities.

We are teaming up with Man City just days ahead of its much-anticipated derby match against Manchester United, which will take place this Sunday. We’ll be proudly supporting Pep Guardiola’s eleven as they lock horns with their crosstown rivals before mounting what’s sure to be a grueling title defense campaign,” OKX said.

Roel De Vries, COO of City Football Group, also commented on the partnership, saying

“We are pleased to welcome OKX as an Official Partner of Manchester City today as they took to venture into the world of sports. The new partnership aligns with our shared values of innovation, drive for success, and being at the cutting edge of our respective industries. Their broad and inclusive approach to targeting diverse audiences resonates with our approach.”

Crypto Meets Sports

The marriage between sports and crypto continues to grow stronger. Many crypto companies have inked multi-year sponsorships with sports clubs and teams, giving crypto a chance to reach mainstream users.

In February, EPL team Manchester United named Tezos as its official cryptocurrency exchange partner in a multi-year sponsorship deal worther $27 million.

In January, CryptoCom, a Singapore-based crypto exchange, bagged a five-year partnership with the Australian Football League (AFL). The deal saw CryptoCom become the official exchange partner of the sports league for the Toyota AFL Premiership season and NAB AFL Women’s (AFLW) competitions.

In November 2021, the crypto exchange also won a $700 million naming rights deal with  Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), which owns and operates the Staples Center. AEG is the entertainment hub and heart of many notable sports teams in the United States.
