Former U.S. President Donald Trump remains undeterred by an assassination attempt and is set to deliver a keynote speech at an upcoming Bitcoin conference in Nashville. The event, which draws crypto enthusiasts from around the world, will take place in less than two weeks.

In a dramatic turn of events, Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13. Despite the close call, the former president has reaffirmed his commitment to speaking at the Bitcoin Conference, a highly anticipated crypto gathering.

Additional Security Measures Anticipated

The Bitcoin Conference, organized by BTC Inc., expects around 20,000 attendees this year. Given Trump’s high-profile appearance, event organizers are taking extra precautions. BTC Inc. CEO David Bailey revealed that they are actively working with security teams to ensure a safe environment for all participants.

The Event

The Bitcoin Conference has a storied history, attracting influential figures from the crypto world and beyond. Last year’s event in Miami featured independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), and Republican Miami Mayor Francis Suarez. Kennedy and Lummis are slated to return this year, along with Tennessee’s Republican Senators, Marsha Blackburn and Bill Hagerty.

Despite the recent attempt on his life, Trump’s spirits remain high. Bailey tweeted,

He is excited to see you all in Nashville and deliver a speech that is heard around the world.”

The former president’s resilience paints the significance of the Bitcoin Conference as a platform for discussing the future of cryptocurrencies.

Following the failed assassination attempt, the FBI has identified the now-deceased gunman as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.

Bitcoin’s Market Reaction

In the aftermath of the assassination attempt, data from CoinMarketCap shows that Bitcoin’s price remained resilient. Over the last 24 hours, BTC surged by more than 3%, breaking the $60,000 mark, currently trading at around $62,000 at the time of writing. The crypto market’s response to such a high-profile incident highlights Bitcoin’s unique position as a global asset class.
